Home About Bio Essentials
a native of Buffalo, New York where she developed a love for movement through competitive athletics as a gymnast and swimmer. A classically trained pianist from the age of six, Ellen combined her love for music and movement when she began formal dance training in jazz and tap at the age of fifteen.

While a student at William Smith College in Geneva, New York, Ellen expanded her dance training and studies to include modern and ballet, and made her first official attempts as a choreographer. She invested her college summers at Camp Wingate*Kirkland in Yarmouthport, Massachusetts, Cape Cod, teaching music, dance, and directing and choreographing the summer musical.

After receiving her B.A. in Music, Ellen located to Boston, Massachusetts. While there she continued her dance training and performing with the Jeannette Neill Dance Studio under the teachings and direction of Adrienne Mincz, Billy McLaughlin, and Jeannette Neill. She was also contracted by area high schools to choreograph their spring musicals. She then attended the American Dance Festival at Duke University where she studied modern technique with Ron Brown, jazz technique with Terrence Greene of Dayton Contemporary Dance Company, composition with Donald McKayle and Donald Byrd, and Laban/Bartenieff Fundamentals with Mary Williford Shade and Jackie Villamil.

Ellen served as co-producer and a presenter with the American Dance Guild for their 2003 conference at Columbia University. Ellen has conducted residencies at Greenwich Academy in Greenwich, CT and is an active member of The Field.
